Fun Time at the Waterwheel Village

Excited to experience the old days

Hello everyone! This time I visited the “Old-Fashioned Water Mill Village” in Fujieda City, Shizuoka Prefecture. This place is a fun facility where you can experience things as they used to be in a farmhouse about 250 years ago.

The waterwheel village is located in the mountains, but as you drive on, the road gets narrower and narrower, and you arrive at a road so wide that there is no turning back!

We cross the suspension bridge and proceed to the houses.

(It can be quite bumpy and scary.)

Everything is in your own hands!

And finally, the experience.

Our mission is to make our own lunch ”cooking rice” and ”grilled fish” !

First, we chop wood to cook rice.

It feels great when it splits in one shot!

Next, we catch landlocked salmon.

Next, we grabbed a landlocked salmon by handin a washbasin, which is quite a difficult task.

The landlocked salmon that I finally caught.

Prepare it and skewer it

We light the firewood and cook the rice in the kamado.

Grill the skewered landlocked salmon over a charcoal fire.

Delicious meal was ready !

A space where time is forgotten.

Fresh vegetables are also grilled over charcoal.

Relaxing in Nature

Waterwheel Village is also in harmony with the surrounding nature. Time passed slowly and I felt refreshed both mentally and physically. It will be even more beautiful during the fall foliage season, and just taking a walk is very relaxing. The sound of the water and the breeze is pleasant, and just being in nature makes you forget about your busy daily life!
